Home Performance with
ENERGY STAR® Program
Federal Home Improvement Tax Credit
Available on home improvements placed in service between January 1, 2009 & December 31, 2010. Tax credits are for 30% of the material cost of the improvement, up to $1,500 and are available for insulation, replacement windows, non-solar water heaters, and certain high efficiency heating and cooling equipment. Some improvements, such as geothermal heat pumps, solar water heaters, solar panels and windmills are not subject to the $1,500 maximum.
The New York Home Performance with ENERGY STAR®
programs are designed to lower energy usage by
encouraging energy efficiency improvements.
In order to qualify for the programs
customers must purchase electric from a
participating utility company.
The programs are available to electric
distribution customers (residential, commercial,
institutional, and industrial) who pay into the
System Benefits Charge (SBC).

50% of the work scope up to $5,000 is
available for single family homes and up to $10,000
for 2 to 4 family homes on all energy saving work
performed by a BPI certified contractor.
